Recording of a special Sainsbury's Business Television "news" programme for Sainsbury's staff (mainly store management teams) consisting of highlights of the Interim Results 2000/01 presentation to Sainsbury's senior managers on 21 November 2000, before the results were presented to City of London analysts the following morning. The programme was broadcast on 22 November 2000 by satellite to Sainsbury's stores, depots and offices.

2. Presentation by Roger Matthews (Group Finance Director) giving details of the financial results for Sainsbury’s and subsidiaries. Includes Homebase strategic review (negotiations for sale of business); sales increases in Sainsbury’s, Homebase and Shaw’s; good performance of Sainsbury’s Bank; difficulties with Sainsbury’s Egypt venture; and JS Developments.
3. Presentation by Ross McLaren (President & Chief Executive, Shaw’s) on the financial results of Shaw’s Supermarkets and Star Markets [supermarket chain in the USA, formerly a Sainsbury’s subsidiary], developments in the company over year and future plans (including the launch of a new loyalty card, integration of Star Markets).
4. Presentation by Sir Peter Davis (Group Chief Executive) about Sainsbury’s market position; business transformation programme for improved efficiency; developments in the company (such as joint venture with Oddbins for selling wine, Sainsbury’s to You online shopping service); IT outsourcing; extensions and refurbishments of stores (including Cromwell Road refurbishment); and summary of company’s performance.
5. Questions and answers from audience (Sainsbury’s staff). Includes effect on Sainsbury’s Bank of proposed Bank of Scotland takeover [at the time, Sainsbury’s Bank was partly owned by Sainsbury’s and Bank of Scotland]; target for savings in distribution; international consolidation of food retail and Sainsbury’s position.
