Sainsbury's Business Television programme, [5 February 2002]

Recording of a Sainsbury's Business Television programme for Sainsbury's staff (mainly store management teams). It was broadcast by satellite to Sainsbury's stores, depots and offices. Text onscreen at the end states that the programme would be repeated on Tuesday 5 February at 14:30 and Thursday 7 February at 11:00 and 14:30 (the date and time of the initial broadcast is not stated, but it seems likely that it was in the morning of 5 February 2002).

1. Introduction by presenter (out-of-vision).
2. Report on “Discovering Oriental Food” (or “Discover New Flavours of the Orient”) campaign to promote food from south east Asia (includes Chinese, Thai, Japanese, Indonesian, Malaysian, Vietnamese food) with a range of new ready meals. Includes interview with Lesley Chapman (Senior Manager, Own Brand Marketing). Includes footage of products and packaging, cooking food in development kitchen, and promotional material.
3. Sainsbury’s television commercial produced for the Discovering Oriental Food campaign featuring Jamie Oliver promoting south east Asian food. In the commercial, Jamie Oliver prepares the food and jumps around like he was in a martial arts action film.
4. Report on Valentine’s Day including about promotional displays and flowers. Includes interview with Stuart Leach (Trading & Retail specialist). Footage is included of products and displays including floral displays.
5. Report on the Delivering Great Service Award for Sainsbury’s staff who had provided great customer service. Includes interviews with Karen Wood (Counter Assistant) and Paul Baterip (Store Manager). Footage is included of Bagshot Road store interior (includes delicatessen and fish counter). Winners of the award are listed.
6. Steve Parkins (Innovation Chef) demonstrates how to cook a recipe (a stir fried dish).

Duration: 12 minutes. The sound on the video is faulty – it is distorted with speech being much quieter than the background music. Includes clips of music 'Proud' by Heather Small and 'China Girl' by David Bowie. Ends with text onscreen reading "Thanks to colleagues at the Bagshot Store in Bracknell & at the Food Centre in Holborn, London".
