Recording of a special Sainsbury's Business Television programme for Sainsbury's staff (mainly store management teams) focussing on Christmas, with particular emphasis on the gifting range. It was broadcast on 15 October 2002 by satellite to Sainsbury's stores, depots and offices.
The programme was the first of a series of programmes about the Christmas trading period.
The description on the tape sleeve reads "Stuart Mitchell, Assistant Managing Director, identifies the key points for the year that all colleagues need to fully support to ensure that they deliver another great Christmas. Stuart Machin, General Manager, Seasonal Events and Promotion highlights the specifics of the Christmas Offer including the range of fantastic gifts and Sainsbury's commitment to delivering great service. There are also interviews with colleagues who won Great Service Heroes awards the preceeding year."
Part one of the programme also includes a clip of innovation project manager Leonie Foster speaking at "product and innovation/marketing presentation, Christmas cascade, Newbury", introducing packaging design for standard, standard plus and premium ranges, price points.
Part one of the programme ends at 04:30 and is followed by four Sainsbury's television commercials for Christmas gifts featuring Jamie Oliver.
Part two begins at 05:45 and also includes clips of retail operations director Ian Elkins speaking at "round-up presentation, Christmas cascade, Newbury" about service, including checkout service, and clips of interviews with Great Service Heroes gold award winners Jean Brookwell of Leatherhead branch and Mercedes Mogado of Cromwell Road, Kensington branch.
