Martin Whitty came to manage JS Wimbledon in 1984. The story goes that while still Chairman's PA, he got into trouble with JD for referring to him within earshot as "Chiefy Chops". No idea if there's any truth in this. MW was appointed to oversee the installation of scanning tills at Wimbledon because of his earlier experience at Hayes. He was very much a company man.
