Video for Savacentre staff about the project to introduce of the Sainsbury’s LifeStyle range of clothing at Savacentre stores. The new range was intended to enable Savacentre to replace BHS (British Home Stores) clothing at its stores by August 1994. The project aimed to replace the BHS buying, distribution and merchandising operations and systems. Presented by Howard Bentley.
The video takes us through the process of how the products were developed, made and sold. The example of a pair of boxer shorts is used. The video also shows us the LifeStyle clothes range with products being modelled in the grounds of Fanhams Hall training centre.
The video discusses: how they developed the LifeStyle clothing range with a new team of clothing specialists; sourcing; quality assurance; design and manufacture of the product by the supplier; distribution of the product; computer systems for managing the supply chain (‘JDA’ software package); clothing displays in stores; impact on sales; customer and staff opinions on the LifeStyle range.
