I had a Saturday job in the Derby Sainsbury’s shop, it had a beautiful interior with marble counters and a mahogany office for the manager at the end of the shop. I worked on the cheese counter (although I hated cheese!) we also had to joint chickens and package broken eggs in cartons for baking egg. I still have one of the original blue and white striped butchers aprons we were allowed to take one when the shop closed. Sadly all the wonderful shop fittings were ripped out when the shop was closed.
