Applied for office position which was already filled went into shop until another office vacancy arose. Worked on egg counter at the front of shop, one lunch time dropped a plastic bin containing 360 eggs resulting in river of broken eggs oozing out of front door. Was quite soon after the event that I became 2nd clerk in the Portslade office, went on to relieve in most of the local shops and even Crawley & Redhill. Some of my happiest working days were spent at Sainsburys.
